One question I always wondered, before becoming a travel agent, is 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 pay for travel insurance?
I have learned so much, as an agent, that makes me realize just how very lucky I have been in my travels up to this point.
Today, we’re going to dip our toe into the topic of 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

When You Need It
If you’re going over water, like to Hawaii or Italy, or if this trip is a real investment for you (like it can be at Disney) we want to talk about your travel insurance options. Just like we have 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, trip protection is there in case things go wrong: delayed baggage, illness, trip interruption – let’s face it- there is a 𝐿𝒪𝒯 that can go wrong on a significant trip! And in times such as these? We need to plan carefully for those possibilities.
When You Don’t
Now, if you’re on an inexpensive, stateside vacation, I’d say there isn’t much need for travel insurance. Either the cost of the risk doesn’t justify it, or you have refundable policies for your airline and accommodations that make it an easy trip. No sweat. I’m always going to make sure my clients know when travel insurance benefits them, as well as when it won’t really do much.
With that said, there are different 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 of trip protection (not to make matters confusing or anything!)
Why Use a Travel Agent?
When you purchase travel insurance, it’s not unreasonable to assume that you are insured for all aspects of your trip. Travelers are often frustrated to discover that travel insurance coverage has a number of exclusions. These are typically stated in the fine print but are nonetheless confusing and sometimes counterintuitive.
For example, whether there’s a pandemic or a natural disaster out of your control, trip cancellation insurance doesn’t cover cancellation under every possible circumstance: To qualify for those, you must purchase a “cancel for any reason” add-on.
𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦, my friends, is just one of many reasons to 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭. I make sure my clients understand the options available to them so that they can make the right decisions for their situation to ensure their investment is protected. I present it in understandable terms, and I make sure you know everything you 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 to know about how your trip is protected.
When we work together to plan your travel, you can rest assured that I will make certain you know how to protect your important travel investment.
In this 5 minute travel video, I cover the two basic types of trip insurance and explain when you need it to protect your vacation investment- and when you don’t!
