Repeal 18th came on our radar when we learned that they support our Kansas City Law Enforcement officers. Any quality establishment that backs the blue gets our business, and we knew we needed to try this one out. Located just a block east of Burlington in North Kansas City – a pickleball’s throw away from Chicken N Pickle – Repeal 18th is easily accessed from anywhere north of the river and just a short drive for those beyond.
Pizza, Fries & Sandwiches
The menu features leveled-up bar favorites with a bistro twist. Sandwiches loaded with meats, a variety of wings, flavorful pizzas (including a veggie!), and their signature fries piled with toppings support a full bar of classic and specialty cocktails. While the menu makes no pretense of healthy eats (it is a bar, after all), our friendly server was happy to have the cook whip me up “Joe’s Fries” – a secret menu item that is both vegetarian and gluten-free! My husband was content to select from the menu; you can see from the picture below that his “Outlaw” burger, packed with a 1/4 lb angus beef burger, pulled pork, queso and fried onions was everything a carnivore could wish for. I’m hoping they’ll add a gluten-free crust option to the menu – I’d love to try that vegetarian pizza next time!

Our Recent Visit
We decided to visit A) because it has been on our To-Do list, and B) as a late Father’s Day outing. We had never been to Repeal 18th before, but we had heard good reviews from some of my husband’s colleagues. We’re always ready to try something new – especially when it’s a small business.
Repeal 18th has both indoor and outdoor (patio) seating. The inside dining room is somewhat cozy and our server was friendly and helpful but unobtrusive.
We arrived at about 12:30 for lunch on a Thursday. There was another couple and one small group of 3 in the dining room and no one on the patio. Our server was amazing – she quickly brought me a tasty (non-alcoholic) peach tea ($3) and my husband an unsweet tea ($2.50) right after we arrived. Since there were no gluten-free and vegetarian items on the menu, I asked for her help, and she was ready with the suggestion of “Joe’s Fries” ($9.99) – something the cook makes for their neighboring business owner. My husband is the “easy” one – quickly ordering The Outlaw ($10) with a side of hand-cut fries ($2).
The Signature Fries baskets come with either hand-cut fries or waffle fries. I’m normally not a waffle-fries kind of girl, but the cook made me half-and-half so I could try both. The conclusion? The waffle fries were amazing – they work like nachos to really enjoy the toppings with less mess and more Yum!
Patio Party
Since it was lunchtime when we visited, the patio was quiet, but our server shared that live entertainment is regularly scheduled on certain weekdays and weekend nights, with a DJ performing on the weekends. Since Repeal 18th stays open later and offers a different experience than Chicken N Pickle, a bit of the crowd from the latter finds variety in the entertainment offered at Repeal 18th into the nighttime hours.
