The Jerusalem Cafe has long been one of my favorite places for Mediterranean food in Kansas City. With the a now cafe open near Liberty and the relocated restaurant in Westport, Jerusalem Cafe has definitely scored a spot on our must-have list for Kansas City eats.
Options for Everyone
One of the reasons this is one of our favorites is because, while I’m a vegetarian and my husband is decidedly not, we both find food we love at Jerusalem Cafe. Great vegetarian dishes include the Combo Mezza, Falafel & Pita, Greek Salad, and Spanokopita – and if those aren’t enough to fill you (the Combo Mezza lasts me for three meals!) they also feature a Vegetarian Pastry Platter and a Falafel Hummus Platter.

My husband enjoys the Shwarma Dinner Platter, or on a night when he’s really hungry and/or wanting some leftovers to enjoy later, he’ll actually get the Jerusalem Dinner Feast. The Dinner Feast is also perfect for sharing – it’s huge! I’ve also heard their Mousaka is amazing.
Our Recent Visit
Last week, we decided to revisit Jerusalem Cafe’s newer spot in Kansas City North (near Liberty) – how lucky are we that one of our favorite restaurants is within 3 miles of our house? We’ve been here before, but we were wondering, since my husband has started eating more vegetables and less meat (per doctor’s orders), what else he might find on the menu.
The Liberty location has both indoor and outdoor seating. The dining room is cozy but never crowded, and the patio is perfect for the weather we’ve been having. I ordered my Combo Mezza and Blake tried the Lamb Platter. My combo – per usual – was more than I could eat (and makes some awesome leftovers!), and Blake was very pleased with the veggies and amazing rice that accompanied his lamb.
Jerusalem Cafe’s Westport location has both indoor and outdoor seating. The dining room is spacious and the service is attentive without being obtrusive. I have to admit – the Baba Ghanouj (roasted eggplant with tahini, lemon juice, garlic and spices) is particularly spectacular and smoky-flavored there. I’m not sure what they do differently, but it’s pretty awesome.
Quick Pick-up
Jerusalem Cafe has updated their online ordering system, and it’s easy peasy to both order online and give them a call. They’ll have your meals ready and waiting for you!
You can find Jerusalem Cafe on Facebook and on wheels!

She likes good food. And travel. And traveling to eat good food. Sometimes her husband comes along (and if she’s lucky, he even buys!)
