Whether you’re on a long vacation or moving to another place, sometimes it’s important to be able to travel with our pets. Here are the pet policies of some of the more popular airlines.
American Airlines
- Pet Service current suspended.
Delta Airlines
- Small dogs, cats and household birds can travel in the cabin for a one-way fee, collected at check-in.
- U.S. / Canada / Puerto Rico: $125 each way
- U.S. Virgin Islands / International: $200 each way
- Brazil: $75 each way
- Small pets must be able to fit in a small, ventilated pet carrier that fits under the seat in front of you. Pets in cabin kennels will count as your one carry-on item. In addition to the kennel, you are permitted to bring one personal item onboard the aircraft.
- Check the websites for locations / countries that do not allow pets.
- One pet is permitted per kennel with exceptions for mothers & newborn litters and pets of same size and breed between the age of 10 weeks and 6 months. See website for details.
Finnish Air
- Small pets can travel in the cabin on flights, given that the total weight of the pet and the pet carrier does not exceed 17 lb.
- Fees:
- Within Europe – 50 Euros each way
- International – 90 Euros / $100 each way
Turkish Airlines
- In the cabin, two animals of the same species, that are used to being together, may be transported in the same crate. It is possible to carry two birds, two cats or two dogs familiar with each other in the same crate, provided that the maximum weight limit of 8 kg (17.64 pounds) is not exceeded.
- Cats and dogs or cats and birds are not permitted on the same plane, whether or not they are separated by cabins.

United Airlines
- A pet traveling in cabin must be carried in an approved hard-sided or soft-sided kennel. The kennel must fit completely under the seat in front of you and remain there at all times.
- Only one pet is allowed in a kennel, and the animal must be able to stand up and turn around comfortably.
- Fees:
- $125 service charge each way
- Additional $125 service charge for each stopover of more than four hours within the U.S. or more than 24 hours outside of the U.S.
- Additional pet require an extra ticket for that pet and an additional $125 each way. The additional pet must also always remain in the floor space under the seat.
